Johannes Möller

Johannes Möller (1806 – 11 December 1862) was a German historian of Dano-Norwegian descent.〔The entire article is based on (Familien Møller paa Aakre ), in ''Gjerpen. En bygdebok'', by J. L. Qvisling. Hosted by Porsgrunn public library.〕
Möller was born in Münster. He was the son of Jacob Nikolaus Møller, an intellectual who had moved from Norway to which his father Hans Møller had migrated from Denmark. Johannes' paternal grandfather was a doctor of medicine, whereas his uncle Hans Eleonardus was a ship-owner. His brother Bartolomæus became a naval officer.
Johannes' inclination towards the humanities stemmed from his father, who had befriended the likes of Henrik Steffens, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling and Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg and also converted to Catholicism. Johannes Möller was appointed professor in history at the Catholic University of Leuven as early as 1834. His father received an honorary professorship in philosophy there in 1835.
Johannes Möller died in December 1862, less than two weeks after his father.
